Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore offers admission to its premium four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme, the admission to which is based on KVPY / JEE-Mains / JEE-Advanced / NEET-UG.  Students need to apply Online to IISc and the application process will close on 31 May 2022.

About the 4-Year Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme - This programme is carefully designed to offer specialization in a science subject, but the knowledge imparted carries a strong flavour of engineering and an exposure to social science disciplines.

Semesters 1, 2 and 3: A systematic exposure to scientific, mathematical and engineering principles will take place during the first three semesters. In each of these semesters, the students will take one course each in physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, engineering and the humanities.

Semesters 4, 5 and 6: At the beginning of the fourth semester, each student will choose a discipline for specialization ("major") according to his/her academic interest. All these specializations are interdisciplinary in nature and will have adequate exposure to other disciplines. In addition to a "major" discipline, a student may also choose a "minor" discipline. In each of these semesters, the students will typically take four courses in the chosen major and minor disciplines; they will also take one elective course in engineering and one seminar course in the humanities.

Semesters 7 and 8: A research project will be started in the seventh semester along with advanced elective courses. The final semester will be devoted exclusively to the project. The project should be in the chosen major discipline or an interdisciplinary topic that substantially overlaps with the major discipline.
Students who complete all requirements for the award of the Bachelor of Science (Research) degree have the option of getting a Master of Science degree by studying at the Institute for a fifth year.

Students specializing in any of the above disciplines will have to take a set of prescribed core and elective courses in the chosen discipline. They will also take courses in engineering, humanities, and interdisciplinary areas for a well-rounded learning experience. 

Fees:
- Tuition Fee (Annual): Rs.10000/-
- Gymkhana Fee (Annual): Rs.1200/-
- Other Academic Fee (Annual): Rs.3700/-
- Students Emergency Fund (Annual): Rs.300/-
- Statutory Deposit (Refundable): Rs.7500/- (to be paid in the first year only)
- Library Deposit (Refundable): Rs.7500/- (to be paid in the first year only)
Tuition Fee (Annual) is Fully Waived for SC/ST students. Other Fee applicable.

Scholarships: All the students who join the Institute are eligible for a scholarship from the KVPY / INSPIRE / IISc Promotional Scheme (IIScP), depending upon their mode of entry. Scholarships from many Indian and multinational agencies and business houses are also available for meritorious students. The scholarship amount may vary for different scholarships agencies as per norms.

Eligibility: 
a) Candidates who have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2021 and those who are expecting to complete their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2022 are eligible to apply. 
b) The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects in their qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent) along with other subjects. 
c) The candidates must have secured a first class or 60% or equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent).

Selection Process: 
Based on the merit list of one of the following national examinations:
1. KVPY
- KVPY 2020 Stream SA
- KVPY 2021 Stream SX 
- KVPY 2021 Stream SB 
- Candidates selected through the Empowerment Initiative (SC/ST) – KVPY 2020 Stream SA or KVPY 2021 Stream SX
2. IIT-JEE-Main: JEE Mains 2022
3. IIT-JEE-Advanced: JEE Advanced 2022
4. NEET-UG: NEET-UG 2022
Note: Candidate must be qualified in any one of the exams mentioned above, and the exam result must be valid as on 01 August 2022.
10 % Supernumerary Quota over and above the approved intake for the program will be provided to women candidates.
